The Directorate of Subnational Support is responsible for supporting public health activities at the State and Local Government levels. The team also leads or supports the establishment of subnational Public Health Emergency Operation Centres (PHEOC), coordinates state PHEOC networks, support LGA PHEOC networks, data quality management and coordination of state epidemiology networks. In addition to this, the directorate builds capacity, advocates, sensitises and monitors all PHEOCs and laboratories network in State and LGAs.
Also, the team leads advocacy to subnational authorities on the development, adoption and implementation of national guidelines and relevant policies, including resource allocation to national health security programmers.
